Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educator to join our team at The Green School Bangalore (TGSB). The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ strengths and areas for improvement.
- Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on assessment results.
- Instructional Support:
- Provide specialized instruction tailored to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities.
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate special education strategies into the general curriculum.
- Work closely with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and strategies for support.
- Behavior Management:
- Develop and implement behavior management plans to support students’ social and emotional well-being.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage appropriate behavior.
- Professional Development:
- Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in special education.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and IEP goals.
- Prepare reports and documentation for parents and school administration.
- Advocacy:
- Advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities within the school community.
- Promote awareness and understanding of special education among staff and students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Skills:
- Knowledge of special education laws and practices.
- Proficiency in using assistive technology and educational software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Empathy and patience in dealing with students’ challenges.
