Job Description

MAKA CBSE School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and experience in managing complex accounting processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS.
    • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
    • Analyze financial data and provide insights into performance, trends, and variances.

 

General Ledger Maintenance:

    • Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and reconciliation of accounts.
    • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
    • Review and reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.

 

Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor budget-to-actual performance and provide variance analysis.
    • Support management in strategic financial planning.

 

Internal Controls and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant laws and regulations.
    • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent errors or fraud.
    • Coordinate and support external audits and other regulatory requirements.

 

Tax Reporting and Compliance:

    • Assist with the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
    • Monitor and update tax-related accounts, including income tax provisions, VAT/GST, and other indirect taxes.

 

Team Leadership and Mentoring:

    • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff and assist with their professional development.
    • Review and approve work completed by junior accountants or accounting assistants.

 

Process Improvement:

    • Continuously review and improve accounting processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
    • Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial operations and reporting systems.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, with Tally or a related field (required).
    • Minimum 3-5 years in school/educational institution accounting & finance management
