Job Description
Overview of the job :
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Preschool Centre Head to lead and manage our
preschool which has 200+ students (Play Group to UKG, Gr1 and Gr2). The ideal candidate will
ensure high-quality education, and maintain a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for
children, staff, and parents. Will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the
school, curriculum development and implementation, budget management, faculty recruitment,
student retention, developing and implementing school policies, maintaining positive relationships
with parents, and ensuring compliance with state education department regulations.
School/Institution Overview:
‘Basil Woods’ is an early learning initiative of National Institute of Value Education (NIVE) to inculcate
universal values and ethics along with imparting physical/cognitive learning in the formative years of early
childhood development. Basil Woods currently runs four – K12 schools and ten preschools across
Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Bhubaneshwar in India.
NIVE focuses on imparting value education and life skills to students of all ages. The founding team of
NIVE includes the trustees of Akshaya Patra, which is the world’s largest NGO-run mid-day meal program
catering to over 1.7 million schoolchildren in 11 states of the country.

Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Leadership and Management:
- Oversee the smooth functioning of the preschool, including academic and administrative
operations. - Lead, mentor, and motivate the teaching and non-teaching staff to achieve excellence.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.
2. Academic Excellence:
- Ensure the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum that aligns with
the school’s philosophy. - Monitor and evaluate teaching methods, lesson plans, and classroom activities.
- Conduct regular teacher training and workshops to ensure continuous professional
development.
3. Parent and Community Engagement:
- Act as the primary point of contact for parents, addressing their queries, feedback, and
concerns. - Organize parent-teacher meetings, workshops, and events to strengthen school-community
relationships. - Promote the preschool through local events, social media, and other marketing channels.
4. Operational Management:
- Manage admissions, maintain enrollment targets, and oversee fee collection.
- Develop and monitor budgets, expenses, and resource allocation.
- Ensure proper maintenance of school infrastructure, supplies, and equipment.
5. Child-Centered Focus:
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment for children.
- Address individual needs of children and ensure their physical, emotional, and intellectual
development. - Monitor child progress and ensure regular communication with parents.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Minimum 6 years of Experience in Kindergarten and Early Childhood Education and
minimum of 3 years of work experience as Centre Head of any reputed preschool with >
100 students. - Good understanding about Montessori pedagogy.
- Deep appreciation for Indian cultural values
- Curriculum Development and Education skills
- Budgeting and promotional skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents
- Knowledge of local regulations and requirements for preschools
- Strong leadership & organizational and strong interpersonal & communication skills.
- Passion for early childhood education and a child-centered approach.
- Ability to handle administrative tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
