Job Description

Position: Chemistry Teacher

Grades: 8 to 12

Curriculum: IGCSE (Cambridge Assessment International Education)

Employment Type: Full-time

 

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging Chemistry lessons aligned with the IGCSE syllabus for Grades 8–12.

Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessments as per Cambridge standards.

Conduct practical laboratory sessions safely, ensuring proper use of chemicals and equipment.

Prepare students for IGCSE internal assessments, practicals, and final examinations.

Use effective teaching strategies to support diverse learners and promote conceptual understanding.

Regularly assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.

Maintain accurate academic records, lab inventories, and safety documentation.

Integrate real-life applications and inquiry-based learning into Chemistry instruction.

Participate in curriculum planning, academic meetings, teacher training, and school activities.

Mentor and guide students for academic excellence and scientific curiosity.

 

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.

Teaching qualification (B.Ed / PGCE / equivalent preferred).

Minimum 2–5 years of experience teaching Chemistry at middle and secondary levels (IGCSE experience preferred).

Strong knowledge of IGCSE Chemistry syllabus and assessment patterns.

 

Skills & Competencies:

Excellent subject knowledge and classroom management skills.

Hands-on experience in conducting Chemistry practicals.

Proficiency in using digital teaching tools and smart classroom technologies.

Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written).

Student-focused approach with the ability to inspire and motivate learners.

Commitment to safety standards and ethical teaching practices.

 

Desirable:

Experience with international curricula (IGCSE/IB).

Ability to contribute to science clubs, Olympiad training, or research-based activities.
