About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and qualified School Counselor to support the mental, emotional, and academic well-being of our students. At J.D.T. Secondary School, we believe in “Sanskar” (Values), and a critical part of that is ensuring every child feels heard and supported. You will work closely with students, teachers, and parents to create a safe and positive school environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Individual Counseling: Conduct one-on-one sessions for students dealing with behavioral issues, anxiety, academic stress, or personal challenges.
  • Group Workshops: Organize and lead sessions on topics like bullying prevention, study skills, time management, and emotional intelligence.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support during student conflicts or emotional distress.
  • Career Guidance: Assist secondary students (Class 9 & 10) in understanding their strengths and choosing appropriate academic streams for Junior College.
  • Parent-Teacher Consultation: Collaborate with parents and teachers to develop strategies for students with special needs or learning disabilities (remedial support).
  • Documentation: Maintain strictly confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor/Master’s in Psychology (Counselling or Clinical) is mandatory.
  • Professional: A Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling is highly preferred.
  • Experience: Min 1 year of experience working with children or adolescents in a school setting.
  • Skills: Deep empathy, active listening, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Language: Proficiency in English, Hindi, and Marathi is highly desirable to communicate effectively with our diverse student and parent base in Mumbai.

 

📍 Location & Commute Preference (Important)

To ensure timely availability for student needs, we prefer candidates residing in the Western Suburbs.

  • Priority Areas: Malad (East/West), Goregaon, Kandivali, Borivali, and Dahisar.
