Job Summary

Vidyodaya International School is looking for a creative and passionate Dance Teacher to lead our Performing Arts department. We seek an individual who can teach a variety of dance forms—ranging from Indian Classical to Contemporary—and who can inspire students to express themselves through movement. You will be responsible for preparing students for school events, competitions, and fostering an appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Teach various dance styles including Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Folk (like Garba/Bhangra), and Western/Contemporary forms.
  • Choreography: Choreograph performances for the Annual Function, Independence Day, Republic Day, and other cultural festivals.
  • Competition Coaching: Train and lead students for inter-school competitions and CBSE Zonal/Cluster cultural meets.
  • Integration with Academics: Collaborate with other teachers to integrate dance with themes from Literature, History, or Science for holistic learning.
  • Stage Management: Oversee costumes, props, and music selection for all school stage productions.
  • Inclusive Training: Ensure that dance is accessible and enjoyable for all students, regardless of their initial skill level.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Dance (e.g., B.A. in Dance, Prabhakar, or Visharad) from a recognized institute or University.
  • Versatility: Proficiency in at least one Indian Classical form and a good command over Semi-classical and Folk/Bollywood/Western styles.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent stage presence, patience with young children, and strong organizational skills.
  • Communication: Ability to explain the theory and history of dance forms in both Hindi and English.
