Job Summary:

The Librarian will be responsible for managing the school library, supporting students and teachers in accessing quality learning resources, and fostering a love for reading and research among the school community. The role involves maintaining the library collection, integrating library activities with classroom learning, and promoting a culture of knowledge, inquiry, and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize, maintain, and manage all library resources including books, journals, digital content, and multimedia materials.

• Support students and teachers in locating and utilizing appropriate learning resources.

• Develop and implement library policies, cataloging systems, and borrowing procedures.

• Plan and conduct reading programs, literary activities, and book exhibitions to promote reading habits.

• Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom teaching and projects.

• Maintain an up-to-date record of library inventory, purchases, and usage statistics.

• Ensure the library environment is welcoming, organized, and conducive to reading and research.

• Assist in the selection and procurement of new books and materials based on curriculum needs and student interests.

• Manage digital library resources and promote information literacy among students.

• Supervise and guide students in responsible use of library facilities and materials.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (B.Lib.Sc / M.Lib.Sc) or equivalent.

• Prior experience in a school or educational institution is preferred.

• Good communication and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in library management software and digital cataloging systems.

• Passion for reading, learning, and working with children and teachers.

• Ability to foster curiosity, creativity, and independent learning among students.
