Job Role: Montessori Teacher

Position Overview

A Montessori Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children, following the Montessori philosophy. The role emphasizes fostering independence, curiosity, and a love for learning while guiding students through structured and self-directed activities.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Classroom Management

    • Prepare and maintain a child-friendly, safe, and stimulating Montessori environment.

    • Organize learning materials and ensure the classroom reflects Montessori principles.

    • Encourage respect, order, and independence among children.

  2. Instruction & Facilitation

    • Introduce and demonstrate Montessori materials and activities across all areas: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Culture.

    • Observe each child’s interests, pace, and developmental needs to guide individualized learning.

    • Encourage self-directed learning while providing appropriate support and scaffolding.

  3. Observation & Assessment

    • Keep detailed records of children’s progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.

    • Regularly assess developmental milestones and academic achievements.

    • Provide feedback to parents and the school leadership team.

  4. Parent Engagement

    • Communicate effectively with parents through meetings, reports, and informal discussions.

    • Offer guidance to parents on supporting Montessori principles at home.

  5. Professional Development

    • Stay updated with Montessori pedagogy and early childhood education best practices.

    • Attend workshops, training, and school development programs.

  6. Collaboration

    • Work with co-teachers, assistants, and school staff to create a holistic educational experience.

    • Participate in staff meetings, school events, and extracurricular activities.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Educational Qualification: Diploma/Certification in Montessori Training (AMI, IMTC, or equivalent) is mandatory.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education/Early Childhood Education preferred.

  • Strong understanding of child psychology and development.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Patience, empathy, and passion for working with children.

  • Ability to create an engaging and orderly classroom environment.
