Job Title: Pre-Primary Teacher

School: Agasti International School

Department: Early Years / Pre-Primary

Reporting To: Pre-Primary Coordinator / Principal

Role Overview

The Pre-Primary Teacher will be responsible for nurturing foundational learning, social development, emotional well-being, and positive behavior among early-year learners. The role requires creating a joyful, safe, engaging, and child-centered classroom environment while supporting holistic development through structured play, activities, and age-appropriate learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Academic & Learning Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons based on Early Childhood Education principles.
  • Develop foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, communication, motor development, and basic concepts.
  • Use play-based, experiential, story-based, and activity-oriented teaching methods.
  • Encourage creativity through rhymes, music, dance, art, craft, dramatization, and interactive learning.
  • Conduct informal assessments, track progress, and maintain child portfolios.

Classroom & Child Management

  • Create a safe, caring, joyful, and emotionally secure classroom environment.
  • Manage classroom behavior with patience, positive reinforcement, and nurturing discipline.
  • Support social skills, manners, independence, and value-based learning.
  • Ensure hygiene, safety, and well-being of children at all times.

Administrative & Professional Duties

  • Maintain lesson records, attendance, progress reports, and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with parents during PTMs and day-to-day concerns.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training workshops, events, celebrations, and school programs.
  • Collaborate with coordinators and colleagues for continuous improvement.
  • Follow school policies, systems, and academic schedules.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Graduate with NTT / ECCEd / Montessori Training / B.Ed (as applicable).
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in pre-primary teaching preferred.
  • Fluency in English with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of child psychology and early childhood pedagogy.
  • Warm, patient, compassionate, and child-friendly personality.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with digital classrooms.
