Job Title: Primary Teacher (PRT) – EVS

School: Agasti International School

Department: Academics – Primary Section

Reporting To: Principal

Role Overview

The Primary EVS Teacher will be responsible for nurturing curiosity, environmental awareness, social understanding, and life skills among primary students. The teacher shall deliver engaging, experiential, and concept-based learning experiences to help students understand their surroundings, environment, society, and basic science concepts in an enjoyable and meaningful manner.

 

Key Responsibilities

Academic Responsibilities

  • Teach EVS to Primary Grades as per the school curriculum and prescribed learning outcomes.
  • Prepare structured lesson plans, teaching aids, worksheets, projects, and activities.
  • Develop understanding in themes such as environment, plants, animals, human body, community, festivals, safety, health & hygiene, and basic scientific concepts.
  • Promote experiential and inquiry-based learning through observations, experiments, field-based learning, storytelling, and real-life examples.
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments; maintain student performance and progress records.
  • Provide academic support through remedial and enrichment learning whenever required.

Classroom & Student Management

  • Maintain a disciplined, respectful, joyful, and student-friendly learning environment.
  • Encourage curiosity, observation, questioning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Instill values of responsibility, environmental care, social awareness, and good citizenship.

Administrative & Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain documentation including attendance, lesson records, assessment files, and portfolios.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training programs, PTMs, events, exhibitions, and academic planning.
  • Collaborate with peers and academic coordinators for curriculum enhancement and best practices.
  • Adhere to school policies, systems, and academic timelines.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Environmental Studies / Social Science or relevant discipline.
  • B.Ed / D.El.Ed (mandatory as per norms).
  • 2–5 years’ experience as Primary EVS Teacher preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, preferably fluent in English.
  • Strong understanding of child psychology and primary pedagogy.
  • Familiarity with activity-based, experiential, and project-based learning methods.
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort with digital learning tools.
