Job Description – Social Science Teacher

Position Overview

The Social Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics (as per grade level) in alignment with the CBSE curriculum. The teacher should inspire curiosity about society, culture, and the environment, while building critical thinking, analytical, and research skills in students.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in History, Geography, Civics/Political Science, and Economics.

• Integrate maps, charts, models, and digital resources to make learning interactive.

• Encourage discussions, debates, and projects that develop civic awareness and social responsibility.

• Connect classroom learning with real-world issues, current affairs, and local/national/global contexts.

• Regularly assess student progress through classwork, projects, tests, and assignments.

• Provide remedial support for students needing additional help.

• Guide students in research, fieldwork, and project-based learning.

• Prepare students for internal assessments, board exams, and inter-school competitions.

• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and share feedback with parents.

• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate social science concepts across subjects.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in History / Geography / Political Science / Economics (Master’s preferred).

• B.Ed. (mandatory as per CBSE norms).

• Strong subject knowledge with ability to simplify complex concepts.

• Excellent communication, explanation, and classroom management skills.

• Proficiency in using ICT tools, maps, and interactive methods.

• Passion for developing civic sense, awareness, and curiosity in young learners.
