Job Title: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Science

School: Agasti International School

Department: Academics – Middle / Secondary Section

Reporting To: Principal

Role Overview

The TGT Science Teacher will be responsible for teaching Science to middle and secondary classes, ensuring strong conceptual clarity and application-oriented understanding in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (as applicable to class level). The teacher will foster curiosity, scientific temperament, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through structured, engaging, and activity-based teaching.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Responsibilities

  • Teach Science subjects as per prescribed syllabus, curriculum framework, and academic calendar.
  • Develop comprehensive lesson plans, learning resources, practical activities, and assessments.
  • Strengthen conceptual understanding in Life Science, Physical Science, and Environmental Science.
  • Conduct practical demonstrations, experiments, lab work, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Evaluate student performance through formative and summative assessments; maintain records and reports.
  • Provide academic support through remedial teaching and enrichment activities.

Classroom & Learner Management

  • Maintain an interactive, disciplined, and motivating classroom environment.
  • Encourage curiosity, questioning, observation, experimentation, and logical thinking.
  • Promote safe science practices and responsible behavior during activities and experiments.

Administrative & Professional Duties

  • Maintain lesson records, attendance, assessment documentation, and student portfolios.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, PTMs, workshops, exhibitions, science fairs, and school events.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues and academic coordinators to enhance curriculum delivery.
  • Adhere to school policies, processes, and academic timelines.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in Science (Physics / Chemistry / Biology) or B.Sc. with B.Ed. (mandatory).
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not compulsory.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and strong communication skills, preferably fluent in English.
  • Familiarity with activity-based, experiential, and technology-integrated teaching.
  • Understanding of adolescent learning psychology and classroom dynamics.
